Maxicam Plus is an association of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory with selective inhibitor activity of Cyclooxygenase-2 (cox-2)- Meloxicam - with a chondroprotective with bone and cartilaginous restorative activity - Chondroitin Sulfate A.
The selective blockade of COX-2, provided by Meloxicam, gives anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-exudative activity with minimum gastric lesions or ulcerogenic effects. Besides these effects, Meloxicam also inhibits the infiltration of leukocytes on inflamed tissue and prevents bone and cartilage destruction that happens in bone and cartilage degenerative processes.
Chondroitin Sulfate A is an important natural component of joint cartilage, responsible for the physiological and functional integrity of the cartilaginous tissue and synovial fluid, restoring joint mobility. Another very important function of Chondroitin Sulfate A is the neutralization of the enzymes produced by the injured cartilage and that increase the degeneration of the cartilaginous tissue.
It promotes the restoration of the synovial fluid and of the cartilaginous and bone fluid, because of its capability of stimulating the biosynthesis of proteoglycan and collagen. It contributes to pain relief, reduction of inflammatory process and regeneration of the joint tissue, accelerating the healing process.
Maxicam Plus is indicated as analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-exudative and joint regenerative for cats and dogs, especially indicated for painful or degenerative, acute or chronic, osteomyoarticular pathologies, such as: osteitis, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, spondylosis, ankylosing spondyloarthrosis, hip dysplasia, intervertebral discs calcifications, fracture repair, post-operative of arthroplasty and traumas.
